It's been just over a week since Beau moved into the Academy stables. He has settled in very well so far and seems pretty relaxed in his new environment.
He has come out of his shell a lot more than when I first went to try him and is becoming quite a cheeky and affectionate character; always following me around the stable for attention.
Beau found his first experience in the indoor schools a bit scary and seemed surprised seeing himself in the arena mirrors but it's unlikely that he's ever seen these before. So the first few days I just focused on getting him relaxed and use to the arenas and walking him around the yard so he could see his new surroundings.
I was told that when he was first put on sales livery in the summer, he was very nervous to hack on his own, but we tried a little hack down the road and although he was a bit spooky, he was better than I expected and seemed to enjoy exploring around his new home. I will make sure he gets to go out hacking at least once a week as its important for him to have a little break some days and do something different other than schooling!
He also loves playing with his new treat ball!
